IMPORTANT: Message from Jackie Kneeshaw, Gauge O Guild Chairman

Dear Members,

I am sorry to say that I have made a decision after a great deal of soul searching to step back from Guild duties.

I told the Management Committee and core Events Committee prior to Guildex but asked that it remained confidential until after the Exhibition.

I need to balance my ‘work' and life commitments and, with on going back pain issues, my health has to come first too, so that I do not do more damage. I am therefore giving notice of standing down as Chairman and of relinquishing my Events duties on 31st December 2026.

I hope the next few months gives the MC time to consider a replacement for me until the formal appointment of a new Chairman takes place by voting at the next AGM. The time between now and the 31st December will also allow me time to support the co-opted Chairman of Events who will replace Rob Bishop and, I will complete my role as Kempton Show Manager, Workshop organiser for 2026 and hand over other duties.

I know that I am my own worst enemy; if I see a gap, I will plug it in order to sustain a service for our members but without more volunteers stepping forward, it is hard to see the end of what has now become very onerous and less enjoyable. When the Guild workload takes so much time that enjoying life is compromised, it is time to address the issue.

I realise that stepping down as Chairman after one year is less than satisfactory but, I want to be honest and explain my situation to you personally; I hope you will understand. More volunteers are essential to guarantee the future of the Guild. If you think you can help in any way, please contact the President, Ian Allen, who will pass on details to the appropriate Committee Chairman.

So, I am still officially Chairman until 31st December 2026 and likewise, I will assist the Events Committee and others until that time.

Thank you

Jackie
