East Road is a fictional 7mm/O Gauge model railway layout, depicting a light diesel maintenance depot with a re-fuelling facility. It is loosely based in the Scottish region during the BR Blue TOPS era, specifically the years 1974 – 1987.
The layout has been designed to be modular for the purpose of exhibiting in the future. It has been built on three baseboards, 2 x 1200mm x 500mm and 1 x 900mm x 500mm. A further 900mm x 500mm board in used as a traverser fiddle yard with the layout when exhibiting
The three main boards of the layout are split into three different scenic sections.
• Board 1 (1200mm x 500mm) – The main diesel depot
• Board 2 (900mm x 500mm) – Fuel discharge and fuel storage depot
• Board 3 (1200mm x 500mm) – Semi-rural scene with a scenic break to the traverser
The layout is DCC controlled using the Gaugemaster Prodigy Advanced system. This setup is 3.5Amps out of the box and has sufficient power to run several sound fitted locos simultaneously.
