Set a round a typical North Eastern coastal terminus station. Craster has all the attributes of a North Eastern terminus, fully signalled, coal drops NE canopy & overhead signal box.
The harbour branch incorporates part of Crasters quay. This includes the Concrete Bunker at the end of the quay. Also included are a couple of typical North East small trawlers & a scruffy tramp coastal steamer that was the back bone of carrying cargo along the coast.
The layout is run in two time periods of 1956, where G5’s, J21 & J27’s predominate as well as J39’s from Alnmouth shed 52D and a few visiting engines that Alnmouth manage to use by stealth, Std 2s & 3s as well as WDs We then move forward to 1962 where we see that the G5’s have gone and DMU’s have replaced them along with a few Diesel Loco hauled passenger trains. There are still a few J27’s & J39’s about but they are becoming rarer as the Diesels continue to make their presence felt
