Face to Face Skills Workshop  Saturday March 23rd  2024

Join us to learn how to solder and construct a Lowmac L starter kit from Connoisseur Models with wheels from Slaters (Plastikard)Ltd.

At Guildex each year we have one-hour face to face seminars and members have asked if we could do something similar which lasts all day, at the end of which they go away with a new skill and a ‘product’.

The first skills workshop will be held on Saturday 23rd March in Buckden Cambridgeshire. (Just off the A1 and a short taxi ride from Huntingdon Railway Station).  The day will run from 09:30 – 17:30

The venue is the meeting place of St Neots MRC and is the Buckden Millennium Community Centre (signposted Village Hall), Burberry Rd, Buckden, St. Neots PE19 5UY

Rob Bishop & Jon Gardner will teach people soldering and construction of a Lowmac L starter kit from Connoisseur Models with wheels from Slaters (Plastikard)Ltd.

The price for this workshop is £75.00 per day for members and £100 per day for non-members. The price includes the tuition, consumables like solder, the Lowmac L kit and wheels plus, refreshments and a sandwich lunch.

All you need to bring is a 40 – 60 watts soldering iron or soldering station of that power.  Full details will be sent out to those who register.

Introducing another New O Gauge Show as requested by members.

We were asked to space our four events across the year and have one in Spring, one in Summer, Guildex in autumn and a new show in Winter.

With the loss of the Leigh O gauge show and the Wigan Finescale Show, we were asked to make the new show accessible for members in the North West and Yorkshire.

This venue (previously used for the Wigan Finescale Show) fits the bill nicely:

We will be using two halls. Both the Sports Hall (Top image) and the Tennis Hall. (Bottom image).

15 mins walk from Wigan station

10 minutes from the M6

15 minutes from M61

The Leisure Centre and Arena Car Parks hold 350 cars for £4.50 per day

Wigan Athletic Overspill car park is £5.00 per day

All the car parks charge to prevent people using them for the shopping centre

If you look at a map you will see the venue is near to the large Robin Park Retail Park so somewhere for wives or partners to visit too.
