Club news
(Last updated 13 Sep 2019)
SEPTEMBER 2019: Its been an interesting and busy few months since the last news from BH MRC here at the EARM. First of all, we had a very successful annual show. Some good layouts including some nice 0 gauge. Work in the new 0 gauge Section Room is ongoing with a lot of track down and one 180' curve into the fiddle yard area complete. The "Gosfield Yard" layout has been booked for the Dapol Collectors Club Day at the Dapol Factory, always a good day out for members and a chance to get discounted purchases on the day. The layouts next outing will be in October. On the 13th the EARM in conjunction with us holds a Small Trains and Model Railway Exhibition, everything from 2 mm to the foot up to 12 inches to the foot. Traders and a good selection of layouts will be present plus all that the museum has to offer. The week before on the 6th, "Anatomy of a Layout" will make an appearance at the East Anglian Area GOG Event at the Sugar Beet Factory Social Club at Bury St Edmund, John Hobdon has all the details.

NameDescriptionPortable
GOSFIELD JUNCTIONA modular layout controlled by DCC. It depicts a period during the late fifties to mid sixties allowing a varied era and stock. Its able to be modified into several different layouts ranging in lengths between 3 and 8 meters.
Anotomy of a LayoutA diorama type layout depicting the start to finish of a layout in the space of seven feet!! It starts with an open frame, through various type of baseboard to a completed siding. It has working demonstrations of point motors and signals.
GOSFIELD YARDThe layout has been derived from a part of Gosfield Junction. Members of the O Section felt that the full layout was only conducive to very large shows, this smaller version has made it easier for smaller shows or limited transport costs. It features a goods yard with stabling and refuelling facilities for both steam, diesels and frieght stock. It is set in the period leading up to the end of steam in 1967 allowing a good range of traffic and its location is fictional within the North Essex area at the end of a branch line. The layout is 10 meters long and 1 meter wide approximately, DCC and DC operation. We welcome invitations from show organisers.
