This workshop will be about learning soldering skills by putting together a LNER 15 Ton Imp - P Wagon kit from Connoisseur Models with wheels from Slaters (Plastikard) Ltd. The wagon and wheels are provided as part of the workshop for you to work on and then take away and complete after the event.
The day will run from 09:30 – 17:30 to maximise the learning and production time but if you do need to leave a bit earlier then let us know. If you need overnight accommodation, this has to be booked and paid for by yourself and there are hotels near the venue.
We will provide refreshments during the day and lunch so please let me know if you have any special dietary needs via the email or phone number at the bottom of this page.
The speakers are Rob Bishop who you often see doing soldering demonstrations at our Guild events. Rob is our Chief Electrician and Chairman of the Waveney Valley Model Railway Club. Jon Gardner is also a member of Waveney Valley MRC and also does O gauge demonstrations at numerous shows.
You will need to bring:
- a 40 – 60 watt soldering iron or soldering station of that power
- small snips to cut components from the etch
- small files to clean up etching cusp.
If you do not have any of the above, let us know and we will supply them.
We are supplying flux and solder
The workshop is suitable for novices and anyone who is trying to improve their soldering skills. You will have tuition and supervision but can work at your own pace, seeking advice from the tutors as necessary.
