Club news
(Last updated )
The club was founded in 1974 and exists to promote interest in railways in the North Nottinghamshire area. The society now has over 60 members with interests in all aspects of railways both model and the real thing. As part of the 'Adopt-a-Station' scheme and in association with East Coast trains, the club occupies two sets of rooms on platform 1 of Retford railway station. The former Buffet and First Class Dining Rooms form the main part of the premises and are used for main meetings and model railway projects. A second suite of rooms were renovated during the early part of 2010 and now form a workshop area for the construction of more model railways including the club's new 'O' gauge layout, Idleford Town. The club also organises the annual Retford Model Railway Exhibition each November in Retford's Town Hall and stages regular clubroom open days.

Meeting Details
The club meets every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings at its clubrooms on platform 1 of Retford railway station. Retford is on the East Coast mainline and frequently sees steam specials passing through, some even stop right outside our clubrooms! The third Wednesday of every month is a 'full meeting' when we have slide shows or talks by visiting speakers. All meetings start at 7.30pm

Idleford TownIdleford Town is a new 'O' gauge model railway currently being built by a small group of members. It is over 10 metres long and its design is based loosely on Great Central practice. The layout features an unusual fiddle yard design which allows the 'end to end' layout to be operated as intensively as a continuous circuit design. Its first public outing was at Retford Model Railway Exhibition on 20th and 21st November 2010. Details of the layout can be found on the club layouts section of the club website, www.bnnrs.net.
